Tattoo After-Care:

Keeping your new tattoo well-hydrated is essential during the tattoo healing process. Zensa Healing Cream contains medicinal-grade calendula oil, grapefruit essential oil and avocado oil to reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen production, accelerating the wound-healing process. To soothe and hydrate the skin, Zensa Healing Cream also contains shea butter, hyaluronic acid and cucumber to provide the necessary moisture to reduce itchiness, irritation and cracked skin, which is especially beneficial during the peeling stage (7-14 days post-tattoo session).

Once you take the bandage off your new tattoo (a few hours to 24 hours after getting inked), wash your tattoo before applying a thin layer of Zensa Healing Cream to the fresh wound. Use a thin layer of the Zensa Healing Cream once or twice daily after cleansing it with gentle soap and water. Continue this tattoo after-care routine for at least 4-6 weeks while the top layer of skin fully heals.

Permanent Makeup:

Any type of cosmetic tattooing falls under the permanent makeup umbrella. Popular types of permanent makeup are lip blushing (sometimes referred to as a lip blushing tattoo) and microblading (nano brows, microshading and powder brows are similar variations of this semi-permanent eyebrow treatment). Unlike a traditional tattoo, the pigment used for permanent makeup procedures only lasts on the skin for 1-3 years (depending on the treatment done, your skin type and lifestyle habits). Lip blushing, microblading and nano brows are all performed using small mechanical needles and semi-permanent pigments to enhance your natural features.

Like with any tattoo, proper after-care is the most important part of the healing process to achieve your desired results (and keep your skin health in check). Zensa Healing Cream will protect your skin by hydrating the area (to prevent cracking), encouraging cellular turnover (essential for wound healing), calming inflammation (to reduce redness or swelling) and preserving the pigment colour (for the perfect brow or pout, thanks to the sunflower seed oil in our all-natural formula) during the healing process.

Cosmetic Treatments:

Treatments like microneedling and bikini waxes are popular cosmetic treatments that provide you with softer, smoother and more youthful skin. Microneedling involves using a tool with several tiny needles to puncture the top layer of the skin to create micro wounds that stimulate collagen production to improve your complexion’s tone and texture. Bikini (or Brazilian) waxes remove hair around or on your private areas – depending on your chosen style. While they’re both mild procedures, these cosmetic treatments temporarily weaken the skin barrier – which can leave you with red, inflamed and dry, itchy skin. In the hours and days following your treatment, it is essential to keep the skin nourished and hydrated. Zensa Healing Cream contains hyaluronic acid – often considered the most effective ingredient to use in your microneedling after-care routine – and aloe vera to soothe any burning or itching that frequently occurs after waxing. The medicinal-grade calendula oil works well as an active ingredient to promote the skin’s recovery – thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits – which prevents ingrown hairs or acne breakouts during the healing process for any of these cosmetic treatments.

Within a few hours of your appointment, wash your treated skin with gentle soap and lukewarm water. Liberally apply Zensa Healing Cream to the skin twice daily or as needed.

Skin Health:

Whether you’re dealing with winter-induced skin dryness, eczema flare-ups, inflammatory acne, rashes, burns or just looking for general nourishment for your skin, Zensa Healing Cream offers a combination of antioxidant-rich and hydrating ingredients to calm your complexion and repair the skin barrier. Ingredients like calendula oil, sunflower seed oil and avocado oil contain linoleic acid, which strengthens the skin barrier to lock in moisture and nutrients while limiting excess oil, dead skin cells, microbes, environmental irritants and UV damage. Linoleic acid stimulates collagen production and promotes cellular turnover to unclog pores, accelerate wound-healing, heal cracked skin, improve skin elasticity, reduce wrinkles, fine lines and reduce hyperpigmentation from sun damage or acne scars.

Use Zensa Healing Cream on the affected areas twice daily until your symptoms subside.

Key Ingredients in Zensa Healing Cream:

  • Calendula Oil

  • Grapefruit Essential Oil

  • Sunflower Seed Oil

  • Shea Butter

  • Cucumber Extract

  • Avocado Oil

  • Hyaluronic Acid

  • Aloe Vera

Calendula oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, hydrating, cell regenerating and healing properties. It contains high levels of flavonoids and carotenoids (groups of antioxidants that give the marigold flowers their vibrant yellow hue), which help stimulate collagen production and cellular turnover. These benefits of calendula oil reduce inflammation, irritation and histamine production to calm allergic reactions, rashes, symptoms of chronic skin conditions (like eczema) and accelerate the tattoo healing process. Results from a 2018 study found that using calendula-infused ointment significantly improved and sped up the wound-healing process for women who recently had C-sections. Along with antimicrobial properties that prevent infection during the healing process, calendula oil helps repair and strengthen the moisture barrier to improve your complexion over time - leaving you less susceptible to significant flare-ups, scarring and damage from the sun’s UV rays.

Grapefruit essential oil is rich in antioxidants, including vitamin C and d-limonene (a compound derived from citrus fruit peels). These nutrients offer anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial benefits to calm skin and treat conditions from acne and eczema to skin texture concerns, wound healing and infections. Vitamin C is known for anti-inflammatory benefits that promote collagen production to repair and hydrate the skin barrier. A 2018 study found that high vitamin C intake is associated with improved eczema (atopic dermatitis) symptoms. Numerous other studies have also found that vitamin C aids in wound healing and prevents raised scar formation. D-limonene offers anti-inflammatory benefits, which have been found to significantly improve the wound healing process.

Sunflower seed oil contains nourishing compounds including vitamin E, oleic acid and linoleic acid to effectively treat conditions like eczema and speed up the wound-healing process. Vitamin E helps lock in moisture, promotes collagen production and works as an anti-inflammatory agent to reduce skin swelling, UV-ray damage, dryness, texture concerns and signs of aging. A small 2004 study found that sunflower seed oil accelerated the wound recovery process in animals – likely due to the high concentration of oleic acid, a compound known to support the wound care process. The linoleic acid in sunflower seed oil provides anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits to protect against potential irritants and infections, reduce swelling or redness, lock in moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. A 2013 study found sunflower seed oil improved skin barrier integrity, skin hydration levels and can be useful in managing eczema symptoms, thanks to its linoleic acid content.

Shea butter is an emollient known for its skin smoothing, hydrating and anti-inflammatory benefits. This tree-nut fat locks in moisture to prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and reduces swelling, redness and cracked skin. A 2009 study confirmed that shea butter is an effective natural remedy for eczema, thanks to its skin barrier strengthening properties. Shea butter stimulates collagen production to improve skin elasticity, which helps reduce hyperpigmentation (like acne scarring) for anti-aging benefits and overall more supple, hydrated skin. It can also soothe skin burning or itching from rashes, sun exposure, skin allergies and other chronic inflammatory conditions (such as rosacea or psoriasis).

Cucumber extract contains vitamin A, C and K and loads of antioxidants to reduce inflammation, soothe red, puffy or irritation and hydrate the skin. It is a natural moisturizer and astringent, which clears out pores to help manage acne, skin texture concerns and minimize the risk of infection. Cucumber extract is known for its soothing properties to calm burning and itchiness from sunburns, rashes, allergic reactions and chronic skin conditions like eczema. Its hydrating properties eliminate skin dryness and help maintain a healthy skin barrier.

Avocado oil is as useful for your complexion as it is in the kitchen. It contains vitamin A, D and E with linoleic and oleic acids to soothe, hydrate and repair your skin. Avocado oil offers powerful anti-inflammatory benefits that moisturize dry or cracked skin, calm itchy or inflamed skin and boost collagen production to maintain a strong skin barrier and protect against UV-ray damage. A 2013 studyfound that avocado oil can accelerate the wound-healing process, which helps with eczema management or supporting your tattoo after-care journey. Use a product like Zensa Healing Cream to relieve chapped or scaly skin.
